Canadian Blood Services launches national curriculum for organ donation
Our partners at Canadian Blood Services have launched a new national curriculum for organ donation aimed at health care professionals and critical care residents working in the field. This online e-learning platform covers various aspects of deceased organ donation and is anticipated to have five new national curriculum modules developed and launched by winter of 2020.
This national curriculum is led by Ken Lotherington (Canadian Blood Services) and Jennifer Hancock (Canadian Blood Services medical consultant) along with Pierre Cardinal, Aimee Sarti and Stephanie Sutherland (The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute).
The first module, Neurological Determination of Death, officially launched at the 2018 Critical Care Canada Forum in Toronto. It is accredited by the Royal College of Physicians (section 3 credits) and beginning in 2020, this curriculum will help facilitate required training for all critical care residents.
