Professional Social Media, Research and YOU

Speaker: Dr. Sapna Kuchadkar (@SapnaKmd), Associate Professor in the Depts. Of Anesthesiology, Critical Care, Pediatric Critical Care and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Kudchadkar’s areas of research focus include sleep disturbances in critically ill children, pediatric delirium prevention and management, sedation of mechanically ventilated children, pediatric ICU rehabilitation and mobility, and clinical epidemiology and biostatistics. She is passionate about the role of social media in healthcare for professional networking in addition to education, knowledge dissemination and advocacy. She is the Senior Associate Editor in charge of social media initiatives for both the journals Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and Critical Care Explorations

Moderator: Dr. Steven Habbous from Cancer Care Ontario, studied molecular biology and pursued a PhD in epidemiology at Western University. Steve has recently graduated and will be presenting 2 projects at the Canadian Transplant Summit.

Building a Presence on Social Media

Speaker: Kate Headley (@mscommunikate), Principal, McMillan Vantage Policy Group.

Kate has honed her strategic communications and marketing skills working with organizations such as United Way, the Canadian Nurses Association and the Mental Health Commission of Canada, as well as the federal government and small start-ups. Since becoming a consultant in 2016, Kate has lent her expertise to the House of Commons, the Canadian Medical Association, Reconciliation Canada, Export Development Canada and others.

She has a special interest in associations, non-profit and health care, but is adeptly versatile to help in a multitude of sectors. An avid reader of news and stories, Kate is a committed collaborator who delivers high-quality communications, creative content and expert advice you can trust.

Originally from Ottawa, Kate holds a bachelor's degree in communications and political science from the University of Ottawa and a public relations diploma from Toronto's Humber College. She is a board of directors member with Dress for Success Ottawa and Planned Parenthood Ottawa.
